Confinement
is about the endless struggle of the protagonist to
break free from a confined and a restricted space. The
film is about the experience of hope and despair. The
news of the atrocities on women during the Gujarat riots
triggered off the performance in the film. I have used
the body as a site of contestation where fear, alienation,
claustrophobia and a sense of helplessness is addressed.
The tight spacing, minimum lighting, the colour and
the repeated sound are created to intensify the experience
further.
