Shot with a simple digital still camera with a video recording provision, ‘What if’ is a small video work that deals with the possibilities of alternative thinking. This video work narrates how romantic concepts about social change are fleeting at the same time thought provoking. One young guy gets up from bed and steps out to the street. He comes across a group of boys playing marble. Suddenly he imagines the currency could be replaced by marbles. He takes an imaginary journey through streets where day to day monetary dealings are done through the exchange of marbles. Finally he realizes that it was just a day dream of his. In a subtle way, this video forwards a critique on the capitalist market.
