The title “watch” invites the viewer to
“watch” the video being presented with
confidence and conviction.
Since I am interested in the embodied experience and
the mind-body dichotomy, it becomes imperative for
me to use images of myself.
I use my own body, image, experiences and performances
as materials of my works just as naturally as a fellow
male artist might use his own body/ experience/ image.
Even at a very abstracted level the body has an underlying
innate sensuality. As a woman artist in a phallocentric
society I declare that I am my own muse. Fully in
control of my work, my body and the gaze. I feel aware
and in control. There is nothing passive here.
