Manjunath Kamath

Manjunath Kamath tells stories with his images creating narratives that are gripping both in content and form. His visual language stimulates the imagination and creates fantasies that seamlessly connect the ordinary with the extraordinary showing the magic art can make. Through this magical realism Kamath indicates an entry point and an exit point where the viewer too participates in the story-making, furthering the narrative. It is this element of storytelling that makes all of his works engaging, witty and charming. His works are defined by quirkiness and humour, deceptively simple but startlingly surreal in their effect. His mastery of colours, his technique and his usage of various mediums enables him to connect the past with the present, effectively drawing a link between tradition and modernism. He works in Painting, Digital Art and Terracotta.

Manjunath Kamath’s works have been displayed at Gallery Espace, New Delhi; Gallery Soulflower, Bangkok; Hangaram Museum, Seoul, UGC Hall, Cardiff and many others.

He is the recipient of the Charles Wallace Scholarship and was the the Artist-in-Residence at the School of Art and Design, University of Wales Institute, Cardiff in 2002.

The artist lives and works in New Delhi.
